Welcome from the General Co-Chairs

2011 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and European Frequency and Time Forum

Tutorials: 1 May 2011
Symposium: 2-5 May 2011
San Francisco, California, USA

An invitation from the General Co-Chairs:
Prof. Clark T.-C. Nguyen and Dr. Giorgio Santarelli

With great pleasure we announce the Joint Conference of the 65th IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and 25th European Frequency and Time Forum, which combines the leading international technical conferences for research, development, and applications of timing and frequency control. This combined conference will offer attendees and exhibitors a unique opportunity to disseminate and interrelate both technically and socially.

On 1 May, the day prior to the meeting, a number of educational and informative Tutorial Sessions will be offered. These sessions will cover topics of interest to attendees, and will be presented by internationally recognized experts in their field.

The conference format will include technical presentations and poster sessions, a plenary talk on a timing and frequency control area of interest, one or more panel sessions on compelling and often controversial topics, an award ceremony, exhibits presented by leading manufacturers of frequency control and precision timekeeping equipment, and an exhibitor-sponsored reception. The Joint Program Committee Co-Chairs and committee members are dedicated to providing a stimulating and educational technical program for all attendees.

The meeting location is the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero Hotel, situated near the bay at the edge of beautiful downtown San Francisco, California. Although the hotel is less than 25 minutes by car from the San Francisco International Airport, attendees are highly encouraged to take the BART subway, which stops literally right at the front door of the hotel. The hotel is very close to many of San Francisco’s bay front attractions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Pier 39, the Exploratorium, the Aquarium of the Bay, Coit Tower, the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, the Presidio, and a plethora of world class restaurants. Beyond the bay front lie countless other attractions in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, e.g., the wine country up north, the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. Needless to say, there is much to do and see at this location, and attendees may wish to spend a few extra days before or after the conference in the area.

We look forward to seeing all of you in 2011!
